Experience, Precision, Exceptional Outcomes

Practice Makes Perfect

Practice is the act of engaging in an activity over and over again, for the purpose of mastering it, as in the saying “practice makes perfect.” With more experience comes more knowledge. All clinical outcome studies confirm this adage – the more times a surgeon performs a procedure, the better they become at it. Collectively, our spine surgeons have more than 30 years of experience with scoliosis surgery. They now perform more than 120 scoliosis surgeries per year, utilizing specialized computerized navigation technology that increases the precision and accuracy of the surgery. This combination leads to safe and reliable outcomes unsurpassed anywhere.

Expertise You Can Trust

Experience, Innovation, and Specialized Care for Young Patients

Expertise You Can Trust

Experience and knowledge are important factors in choosing the right physician to treat your child. Each of our pediatric physicians are board-certified and every physician is fellowship-trained in Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery, having completed at least a year-long, accredited fellowship at one of the world’s leading pediatric orthopaedic centers.

Not only do our physicians possess an abundance of experience, but they also have knowledge in pediatric-based orthopaedic medicine that has lead to a well-earned recognition within the Tampa Bay medical community. Their accomplishments have been recognized on both a local and national basis.

Additionally, each physician is dedicated to advancing treatment, education, and research in the field of pediatric orthopaedic surgery. Our physicians hold academic positions at the University Of South Florida College Of Medicine. Each is a Clinical or Affiliate Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, as well as the Department of Pediatrics. Our practice is the primary clinical rotation site for USF orthopaedic residents. We are committed to teaching pediatric orthopaedic surgery to these physicians who will be the orthopaedic surgeons of tomorrow, ensuring they incorporate the highest standards and quality of care. We also teach pediatricians, family practice physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners by hosting numerous educational symposia throughout the area.

An important factor to consider in choosing a physician for your child is the type of technology available and used by that physician. Over time, technological advances have allowed improved medical and surgical outcomes and have increased the safety of surgical procedures. A physician must be willing to incorporate these advances and new techniques into everyday use, and this is particularly important when considering treatment options for your child.

At Children’s Orthopaedic and Scoliosis Surgery Associates, LLP, our physicians utilize the latest advanced surgical techniques and equipment to improve patient outcomes while providing the safest possible environment.

For example, our spine surgeons prefer pedicle screw fixation over traditional hook-and-wire fixation for scoliosis surgery. They also employ a CAT scan-based navigation system intra-operatively during all spine surgeries. This allows for a more accurate placement of pedicle screws. Their navigation suite has been the site of live surgical demonstrations simultaneously broadcast to Europe and around the United States. Together these methods have led to greater correction of the degree of scoliosis, decreased postoperative complications with the instrumentation, and improved patient outcome. Our sports surgeons use a new, cutting-edge arthroscopy suite which allows minimally invasive techniques that maximize recovery and outcomes in young athletes.

These advances encompass all of our subspecialties. Our operating room has been specially-fitted with advanced imaging technology and specialized instrumentation to accommodate all of our orthopaedic surgical procedures.

Children are not just small adults. Their orthopaedic conditions and injuries often require a specialized approach. At some point, most children will require the attention of an orthopaedist – either because of a broken bone, sports injury, or other condition. Treatment at that point should concentrate on the child’s specific needs, allowing them to heal and return to what they do best – being children. Integrity, credentials, commitment, and the use of advanced technology are what make our physicians distinct and the best choice for your child’s orthopaedic care!

Children’s Orthopaedic and Scoliosis Surgery Associates, LLP was first established in 1988, and has become renowned statewide for providing pediatric orthopaedic care of the highest standard. Now with six, fellowship-trained pediatric orthopaedists, we at Children’s Orthopaedic & Scoliosis Surgery Associates firmly believe that excellence should be a standard to which we all aspire. We understand that our patients deserve the best and therefore expect the most from us. Having been in practice over 35 years, now generations of patients have been cared for, and we are proud to have earned the reputation for providing the best care in the Tampa Bay area and indeed, throughout West Central Florida.
